The rugged and rocky terrain in Huehuetenango makes movement difficult, yet it makes for the perfect place to grow coffee. While the contour of this department in Guatemala can make transportation and travel difficult, it also gives way to innovation and ingenuity on the part of UNEX to help the local peoples share their special coffee. Using a wet process and dried in the region rather than being sent to a mill elsewhere, UNEX holds its harvested lots in warehouses, which makes it easier to send out when it is ready to be sent to Guatemala City. UNEX also provides avenues of other transportation to the local peoples, as they have brought with them agricultural and healthcare resources. This coffee has subtle notes of cherry and creamy milk chocolate.
